SINGAPORE : Eighty-two teams from secondary schools
took part in a cooking competition over a span of six
months. Hosted by Republic Polytechnic, the finals
were held on Thursday in the school's training kitchen
- housed within its School of Hospitality - where the 10 finalists were given specific ingredients and a time
limit. Some contestants even made use of family
recipes. The secondary four students were aided by
Republic Polytechnic's Restaurant & Culinary
Operations students. The judging panel included
president of Singapore Chefs Association Eric Teo and
executive chef of Resorts World Sentosa Edmund Toh.
On Thursday, Senior Parliamentary Secretary for
Education and Manpower, Hawazi Daipi, commended
the polytechnic's efforts.

Winnie Low and Sock Yan from Boon Lay Secondary
walked away with two iPads, S$1,000 and a trophy.

The runner-ups were Teck Whye Secondary
and Raffles Girls' School (Secondary).
The events are part of Republic Polytechnic's 10th anniversary.
